14,000 individuals leave the Armed Forces every year, many of whom are not aware of the opportunities available within the Rail and Construction industries. To meet the challenges in an ever-expanding industry, and with an increasing aging workforce, the sector calls for organisations, companies and individuals who strive at bringing new and capable employees.
As a result, and building on their commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, Auctus Management Group Ltd and its subsidiary businesses, RSS Infrastructure Ltd and INFRA Skills Ltd are delighted to announce they are now proud Alliance members of BuildForce.
BuildForce is a collaborative, industry-led programme that aims to inspire, engage and enable Service leavers and veterans to transition to sustainable employment in the built environment, and to reduce the skills gap in construction, by connecting the military community to industry employers. This is achieved through the UK-wide BuildForce Alliance, which consists of employers, industry bodies, Armed Forces charities, and is part-funded by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and is working in partnership with The Royal Foundation.
To support individuals looking for careers in the built environment, BuildForce has created a nationwide network of mentors, drawn from the BuildForce Alliance, who have the experience and passion to help those in the Armed Forces move into the built environment. As new members of the BuildForce Alliance, Auctus Management Group Ltd will provide people who take on one or more of the following roles to the BuildForce programme: Ambassadors, Champions and Mentors. Ambassadors and champions promote and support BuildForce and its objectives, while mentors provide 1-2-1 career advice and guidance to Service leavers and veterans.
Richard Toy, CEO, recent attendee of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Awards event, and a strong advocate for supporting the Armed Forces, commented: “We are delighted to be aligned with such a fantastic programme, as recent Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award winners, we continually strive to recruit and support more ex-forces personnel, as they look to transition from an Armed Forces career, to a civilian career.
As the skills gap grows, and large infrastructure projects like HS2, Commonwealth Games and the Midland Metro expansion will dominate long term support and focus, it is imperative that we train and utilise the highly skilled personnel leaving the Armed Forces”.
