During Reserves Day on 26th June, West Midland RFCA in conjunction with Black Country Chamber of Commerce held a Breakfast networking event at the Royal Yeomanry’s Army Reserve centre in Dudley. The event was well attended with many companies from the surrounding areas keen to hear more about the skills and attributes Reservists bring to civilian roles.
The attendees heard from the RAF about the plans to continue the RAF100 celebrations, the Navy spoke about how they are engaging with the local community and how they are raising awareness of the work the Navy are doing in protecting the UK, and the Army explained how Veterans are supported with the transition from Military life to civilian life. We heard a presentation from a Cadet Force Adult volunteer, who eloquently spoke of the rewards received by the adults who support young people through Forces Cadet programmes, and the huge benefits for young people to attend them.
The Reservists from the Army Reserve Centre joined us for breakfast, which allowed the guests to chat to them about life in the Reserves, and to have some hands-on experiences of the protective equipment todays Army personnel use.
