In 2017 Her Majesty approved the adoption of a single bespoke Commission for Officers of the Cadet Forces of the United Kingdom, the first of its kind for 155 years. The Commission was granted to recognise the immense contribution made by volunteer staff as leaders of national uniformed youth organisations sponsored by the Ministry of Defence.

On Thursday 13th June 2019 the Officers of the (Cheshire & Staffordshire) Chestaffs District Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets, were presented with their Commission scrolls by their guest of honour, Admiral Sir Trevor Soar KCB OBE DL.

In addition to receiving his Commission the CO of Stafford & Rugeley, Lieutenant (SCC) Lee Townsend RMR, received the Cadet Forces Medal (CFM) from Admiral Soar.  The CFM is awarded in recognition of 12 years uniformed service in the Cadet Forces.

Also present was our Area Officer Commander Charles Bagot-Jewitt RN, who presented the District Trophy to Lt Cdr (SCC) John Matthews RNR our District Officer.
