Last year, on 5th of May, 3 Troop 225 Field Squadron Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (Militia) rallied together and participated in the Birmingham Half Marathon, with seven successful finishers and a large amount of money raised for The Royal British Legion. Wanting to keep with tradition and keep up the Troop’s physical fitness, a group of four runners from 3 Troop entered the 2025 race on the 4th of May. The team consisted of Sappers Dom Piotrowski and Will Whiting, Lance Corporal Jon Phillips, and Second Lieutenant Greg Charles. The Squadron kindly supported the team by contributing towards part of the entrance fee for all attenders.
On the day of the event, the weather was sunny with clouds, a slight patch of rain and not too warm. The perfect weather for a 13.1-mile jog! The atmosphere similarly to the year before was fantastic, with over 16,000 other runners participating. All team members completed the course, with some great times achieved. The event was a brilliant way to form cohesion in the Troop, create a common challenge and goal to achieve, whilst raising money for a good cause in the process. And of course, it helped maintain team spirit and the Esprit De Corps. Hopefully this annual 3 Troop tradition will continue long into the future!
