Overview of West Midland RFCA.
West Midland RFCA is one of 13 regionally based RFCAs. The RFCAs are arms-length bodies of the Ministry of Defence (MOD) with Crown status.
The West Midland RFCA role is to provide first class support to the tri-service Reserves and MOD-sponsored Cadet Forces across the six counties of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire. With some 70 permanent staff, tasks include:
- Maintaining a regional network of volunteer members and influential stakeholders.
- Providing property, asset and facilities management of the Reserve Forces and Cadets estate comprising over 148 sites and 400 buildings throughout the region.
- Widely promoting the Armed Forces.
- Conducting employer engagement to persuade employers to support their employees in their Reserve service and Cadet Force adult volunteering, whilst sustaining supportive employers.
- Supporting the MOD Cadets and Youth programme as appropriate, including the employment of full time professional staff for the Army Cadet Force.
Employer Engagement Administrative Officer
Applications are invited for the full-time post of Employer Engagement Administrative Officer, West Midland Reserve Forces & Cadets Association (West Midland RFCA) based in Harborne, Birmingham. This is a Crown Service Grade E1 role.
Job Overview. The EEAO will work 37 hrs per week to support the Defence Relationship Managers and the Head of Engagement to further the Government’s objectives at regional level. The principal output is to assist in creating the environment which will encourage employers to support Reservists from the three single Services to meet Defence requirements. Terms and Conditions. The salary is £26,770 p.a. A standard working week is 37 hours. The incumbent is required to regularly work additional hours in the evenings and at weekends, which may be compensated. Annual leave, excluding public holidays, is 25 days rising to 30 over 5 years (30 days immediately if the candidate has qualifying previous service). An attractive career average (CARE) Pension Scheme is available. The successful candidate will need to gain Enhanced DBS clearance. The appointment is for an initial probationary period of six months, continuing as a permanent position thereafter.

HQ West Midlands CFAV Role - call for applications

Applications are invited for the position of Comdt Shropshire ACF, based at County HQ in Copthorne, Shrewsbury. The post will become available in Nov 25 (tbc), the successful applicant will be appointed in time to allow for a structured hand over from the incumbent. The successful applicant will report to Comd JMC Centre – Col Jim Heardman.
The post is a voluntary appointment for an initial three-year tenure, extendable thereafter up to a maximum of two years if agreed by the JMC Comd if the extension is considered to be in the best interests of the Cadet movement.
Under the regulations for a Cadet Force Commission, the successful applicant will assume the rank of ACF Colonel if qualified. They will also be eligible for up to a maximum of 28 days "Volunteer Allowance" and will be entitled to residence to place of duty and motor mileage allowances whilst on official duty.
Candidates should ideally have held a commission in the Regular Forces, Reserves or MOD sponsored Cadet organisations. Exceptionally applicants with extensive senior leadership in other youth, community or voluntary sectors will be considered.
It is a requirement under the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Code of Practice that this position requires an 'Enhanced Disclosure' prior to appointment.
