The Windsor Academy Trust family is made up of 1,000 committed, inspiring and talented staff.
This diverse group includes Armed Forces veterans, Reservists and staff who support the Armed Forces through various activities, such as national events and cadet organisations.
One such staff member is Pete Jones, an Armed Forces veteran and teacher at Kingswinford Academy who joined the Windsor Academy Trust family in September 2020.
Like many veterans, finding a new career path can be a daunting experience. However, Pete found that his military experience was valued, and opened up his career opportunities. As Pete says:
“I have felt very supported by Windsor Academy Trust and Kingswinford Academy. They have taken my previous military service and experience as a positive, and this has then opened up many opportunities for my career.
“It is a daunting experience leaving the military and trying to find a new career path. I am very grateful to the Trust and the school for their constant support.”
Windsor Academy Trust is proud to be an Armed Forces friendly organisation that is committed to offering a welcoming environment and ensuring that no member of the Armed Forces community faces a disadvantage.
In March, the Trust pledged its ongoing commitment to supporting the armed forces community by signing the Armed Forces Covenant. This has been followed by the Trust receiving a bronze award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.
Windsor Academy Trust is supporting Armed Forces Week with activities across its schools to celebrate Armed Forces Day. This includes:
- holding school assemblies paying tribute to members of the Armed Forces.
- cadets wearing their uniform for the day.
- running house competitions and sports events while raising money for the Royal British Legion.
The Trust is proud to show its support and ongoing commitment to the Armed Forces community and more can be found on their website.
